Dave is a government and public affairs veteran, a communications strategist and professional writer who has worked in both newspaper journalism and corporate communications. He is able to quickly translate technical, complex and sensitive information for a variety of audiences.
Dave is an expert speechwriter and media trainer. He has experience in crisis response, international public relations, government relations and strategic planning. During his career in the aerospace industry with McDonnell Douglas, and then Boeing, he developed marketing communication strategies to inform and influence members of Congress, Department of Defense executives, local government representatives, the media and other opinion leaders. He produced a range of communications — such as white papers, news releases, newsletters, videos, briefings, speeches and reports — for both external and internal audiences.
During his years as a journalist, Dave worked for the Chicago Tribune, Des Moines Register and Tribune, and Grand Forks Herald, serving as a reporter, copy editor and bureau chief. He covered city, county and state government and regional agencies. He wrote news and feature stories on the economy, transportation, infrastructure, technology, environmental issues, societal change and natural disasters. He also covered several notorious criminal trials as well as court proceedings on taxation.
In addition, Dave has served as a certified senior examiner for the California Council on Excellence and reviewed a number of businesses and agencies against the criteria for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
